This fabulous postcard was sent from Guadeloupe, a beautiful Caribbean island in the Lesser Antilles. Although Guadeloupe is a part of France (it is even part of the EU!!) it is considered a separate entity. The truly wonderful stamps (2012 issues) give you an idea about the sea life in the Caribbean. A million thanks to Emily for this marvellous piece!!

This beautiful postcard came all the way from Philipsburg, the capital of St. Maarten. The city got its name from John Philips, who established it in 1763. There's a stamp on the postcard (not just a postage meter label): a 2011 definitive, which is lucky because there aren't so many postcards with the new stamps.
